Today I ran into a problem with my testlab’s SCCM console after I successfully tested a SQL 2012 cluster storage migration scenario. I swapped the SAN LUNs under the cluster successfully and brought all databases online. When I gone to test all my applications’ functionality SCCM console was unable to connect to the site database, even on the site server. First I checked quickly (later on it turned out too quickly…;)) the SCCM log folder, but none of the logs told me what is wrong, actually they all looked fine. OK, let’s have a look into the SmsAdminUI.log. Well, it didn’t revealed much as well, just a general error “Transport error; failed to connect, message: ‘The SMS Provider reported an error.”  I suspected that maybe some permissions were missing from SQL data files, but they all set fine. I then reinstalled the console on my management server, but still no luck.

Finally the SMSProv.log helped me to find the solution. I searched for the error I found in it  “Unknown SQL Error! ThreadID : 7500 , DbError: 50000 , Sev: 16” and my friend Mr. Google found me this article. I only had to turn back on the TRUSTWORTHY switch and then all went back to normal and my console worked again:

ALTER DATABASE <ConfigMgr DB>
SET TRUSTWORTHY ON
